The use of HDR images (High Dynamic Range) is another photography trend that has recently been gaining mainstream popularity. Thanks to the internet, it’s very easy for photographers of all levels to learn how to perform these techniques on their own images, as we have seen on PingMag with the technique used in 10 Tiny Tokyo Photos. The technique in that article - which makes birds-eye-view photos of real buildings resemble tiny miniature models - created a mini boom in the world of amateur photography, fascinating photographers and the people viewing the photos with how easily the eye can be tricked. HDR images are now set to be the next mini trend - in this article I’ll explain what HDR is and show you some experimental HDR images, taken in Tokyo.
Rachel Papo was born in 1970 in Columbus, Ohio but was raised in Israel. She began photographing as a teenager and attended a renowned fine-arts high-school in Haifa, Israel. At age eighteen she served in the Israeli Air Force as a photographer. These two intensive years of service inspired her current photographic project titled after her own number during service — Serial No. 3817131.
I usually assume that the popularity of softcore girl-on-girl imagery is a product of the past ten years or so, popularized by things like Girls Gone Wild videos and Madonna’s music-award stage antics. But go to the popular culture of the ’60s and ’70s and you’ll see it everywhere, from Wes Craven’s first horror flick in 1972, the ultra-low-budget Last House on the Left, to two-girl peep booths in filthy, virtually lawless Times Square. Recently, in an interview with Nerve, gossip columnist Ian Spiegelman said that girls kissing “never gets old,” and indeed, this gallery of found photography from the internet seems to date to the early 1970s. It’s nice to see that as hair styles and acceptable pants change, some fantasies never fade. — Will Doig
Most of these young men with cameras are completely untrained in photography. They are country lads who come to Rome; the head man gives them cameras, explains the basic rudiments (at night working with a flash exposure never changes, in daytime a fill-in flash is always used — technically simple and perfectly adequate for what certain newspapers and magazines require). What is highly developed is a network of information on who dines with whom at what place — often couples who do not want to be seen together in public.
(Nowadays the art of paparazzi photography has become highly sophisticated. I think that the series of clandestine color photographs taken of Jackie Onassis nude, on the island of Scorpios, was probably the greatest photographic coup of the decade. It was a great technical feat and no one really knows how these pictures were obtained)
I am introduced to the guys who will pose with my model, a price for the three-day shoot is agreed upon. I tell them that they must behave exactly as if they are stalking a celebrity, aggressive and without mercy. I tell them I will shoot very fast and get the scenes as they create them.
After the second day one of the guys comes to me and tells me that two of his colleagues have loaded their cameras with film, have taken shots of the model and me, have found out how much I am getting for my photographs, and have put together a nice little exposé, which he has sold in advance to one of the tabloids. It takes all the persuasion of an Italian friend of mine and a whopping big tip to get the rolls of film back. At the end of the third day my model is completely exhausted and hysterical from the constant pummeling, running and goading she has undergone.
Avant Garde Fashion Photography & Design - achei linkado lá no blog do Bruno, e tenho freqüentado.
A ver.
